A morose parrot with a reputation for biting perches in a small cage in the lobby of Brookside Retirement Community. For Josephine, a reluctant resident, he sums up the place which friend and handwriting expert, Lill, has dubbed Babbling Brook (in honor of the missing waterway and the more exasperating residents). However, Brookside turns out to be more interesting than Josephine expected, as it becomes the setting for art theft, other dodgy dealings, and…naked poker. Investigating the unusual events, Josephine and Lill befriend Devi Subramanian, a young woman Josephine tries to prevent from making the same mistakes she has made.

What Readers Are Saying about the Babbling Brook Series
Over three-hundred 4- and 5-star reviews on Amazon
Love this comment from an Amazon customer: I totally enjoyed this book. I could not put it down until I realized that it was almost five a.m. and my husband woke up and gave me the look. You all know the one!
Has Ann Warner moved away from her genre of “emotionally engaging fiction”? Not entirely, but the introductory pages of The Babbling Brook Naked Poker Club – Book One might make a reader think so. It begins as a cute story, and I was tempted not to take it as seriously as I took all of Ann Warner’s other books. Give it time, though. Ann Warner just isn’t going to send us on our way without emotional involvement, and she’s going to force us to ponder some new questions. Christopher Foreman
From the very first chapter I was hooked. The lush character description and the dialogue was splendid. The setting in a retirement home was an unlikely and zany choice. Almost every character had a voice and I really liked that. It was a unique way of telling the story. Mystery, nosy old biddies, liars, cheats, romance, intrigue, and lots of human frailty and courage all wrapped into one wonderful read. Don’t pass up a very enjoyable read. Janet Tunget
Ann Warner’s new book is her best yet. Beautifully written in Warner’s trademark clean, eloquent prose, this light-hearted mystery set in a retirement community is very fun to read. The quirky members of THE BABBLING BROOK NAKED POKER CLUB will charm and inspire you, as they band together to catch a thief. Gail Cleare, author of DESTINED and THE TASTE OF AIR
